I WASHINGTON PARK NOTES I HOMEWOOD, 111., June 17. Mose Goldblatt obtained a second express car and planned to ship the remainder of the C. V. Whitney string to Latonia tonight. A carload of the horses got away for the Covington track last night. Apprentice Charles Turner, who received seven broken ribs and other painful injuries in an accident here Sunday morning, is now out of danger. A division of the stable of John Marsch, local patron, may be sent to Latonia for the thirty-one day meeting opening there on June 27. Frank G. Martin, former jockey and trainer, died Monday at Lexington, according to word received by Howard Stearns, brother-in-law of the deceased. Martin had been in failing health for many months and was 42 years old. Jack Howard turned the four-year-old Battleship, owned by Walter J. Salmon, over to Jack Pryce. Howard took up Battleship this spring in Kentucky, where he ran out during the winter. Jockey James Smith has been engaged to ride Cousin Jo in the Arlington Oaks and Arlington Matron Stakes. Jockey Herb Fisher was released from his engagement by the Gallaher and Combs stable and will ride freelance. Copies of the final issue of the program book for the meeting were distributed today.
