S.M.I.Y II5ENE. hustled along from the start, raced on the inside after reaching the turn and held on well alter being headed. SMILING MOON, in very close quarters on the first turn, went gamely in the final drive and Ellis dismounted with a bruised foot. AltHA WANNA closed gamely. WEESIE began well, but Ivas allowed la drop far out of it and dosed much ground while raring on the inside in the stretch and may be a good iillv. STELLA F. dropped out of it on the turn. RUGARTINE and" LITTLE CUP, fractious at the post, uluie thev unseated their riders before the start, were outrun. JIM ORMONT worked his way up fast on the stretch turn and bore in badly in the last sixteenth. BAYAMO had no mishaps. HAMILTON saved ground throughout and quit. MARYS TOY was done earlv. TELLICO. probably much the best, lost much ground on the turn, drew clear without need of pressure, but bore out badly on the stretch turn and. -vervine when hard urged in the closing stages, was overtaken, but would have won in another stride OH DAVE raced well up and had no apparent mishaps. PIROGlE showed a fair performance. FLYING tired after reaching the stretch. BY WIRE showed earlv speed. CON AMORE, taken across sharply near the turn, S*aved ground, wore down SUPREME SWEET under urging and outlasted LADY FINGERS. The latter showed speed, went to the inside in the stretch and closed gamely in very close quarters. AGINCOURT, cut off by CON AMORE and repeatedly taken back, held on well and, with better luck, might have won. DORIS JEAN raced wide, careened into COUSIN 10 in the stretch and held on well. THISTLE ANN raced well. COUSIN JO, unable to keep up after starting fast, met interierence and c;osed eamelv on the outside. SUPREME SWEFT, rushtd into the lead, tired badly. GALLANT KNIGHT, slow to get going, worked his way into the lead under vigorous urging, set a fast pace under occasional rousing after leaving the chute and, holding on gamely under his weight, withstood SATIN SPAR. The latter began fast, was rated along nicely for three-quarters, closed gamely under a strong ride, but could not get up and galloped out an Additional quarter. MIKE HALL lost ground, challenged and tired and was worked an extra eighth. LAHOR, away poorly, raced into a forward position on the inside on the first turn, followed the leaders, under light restraint on the back stretch, improved his position with a big loss of ground on the stretch turn and, heading KNIGHT COMMANDER, outstayed him in a long drive. KNIGHT COMMANDER, away fast, saved ground throughout, set a fast early pace and held on tenaciously after being headed. AMYVALE raced evenly. GALAHAD dropped out of it under a weak ride and closed ground after going to the outside in the stretch. DRESS SHIP tired. The others were outrun. ELLEN N., rated along under restraint for the first five-eighths, responded strongly when called upon and, racing into the lead on the outside, won thereafter. KING PIN forced the early pace under restraint, held the lead briefly and could not withstand the winner. BRUSH improved her position fast on the outside in the final five-sixteenths. PLAY BALL, close up from the start, was forced back repeatedly, came through on the inside in the stretch, but could not get up. FADDY had no mishaps. VANDAL tired after getting into the lead entering the stretch. BOGAN quit badly after showing early speed. SPANFLOW appeared to sulk.
