JOLA SHOT, lucky to get through on the inside soon after the start, took a short lead approaching the far turn and, racing well, drew out to an easy win in the closing eighth. PARAGRAPH was in close quarters in the stretch and showed a good performance. KEMOLI raced close up on the outside all the way. SHORTY O. was allowed to drop far out of it early, then made up ground but, being pocketed, was forced to pull up. EPCO met interference on the stretch turn and swerved to the inside, then tired in the stretch. WILLOW. BRAMBLE quit badly. HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE, close to PORTCODINE in the early stages, took a short lead after going half the distance and, finishing gamely under good riding, scored a handy victory. PORTCODINE displayed the most early speed and held on well. PEGGY J. moved up and saved ground on the outside in the last quarter, but could not get up. TONTO ROCK may have been best, but was shut off at the first quarter and was in close to the rail all through the last eighth. BAHAMAS could not keep up. MASTERLY was never a contender.
