JUDGE J. B. CAMPBELL RESIGNS Associate Steward, Handicapper Severs Connection With Agua Caliente Jockey Club. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Dec. 31 Associate steward and handicapper Jack B. Campbell, today tendered his resignation to officials of- the Agua Caliente Jockey Club to take effect at once. It was a surprise to president James N. Crofton, who at the time requested Mr. Campbell to reconsider his resignation but to no avail. Judge Campbell will leave San Diego in a few days for San Pedro where he will board the S. S. President Coolidge bound for New York City. Following a short stay in New York he will again return south to his home in New Orleans for the rest of the winter. Judge Campbell is widely known as a racing official and handicapper, having for years been connected with the tracks in Maryland, New Orleans, Florida, Canada, Tijuana, Agua Caliente, Kentucky and others. His ability as racing secretary and handicapper is widely recognized and his loss at the course will be greatly felt. His resignation, which was a brief one to president Crofton, stated that ho considered his services ended at the temporary close of the meeting which took effect on December 23. He further stated that the Jockey Club failed to live up to their agreement of the running of 107 days, and that because of this he wished to resign. Ho further stated that the cause lay wholly in this matter and that no friction or ill-feeling led to his severing his connections with the Agua Caliente Jockey Club, No successor has yet been named to fill the post vacated by judge Campbell, Jockey Club officials announced.
