I TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES $ Starter Hamilton made his first ruling of the meeting this afternoon when he suspended jockey R. Finnerty for five days for disobedience while at the post in the fourth race. Finnerty had the mount on La Gol-ondrina. Jockey A. Abel, besides being a good rider, is an inventor. A patent was recently granted to Abel for an automatic auxiliary control. Abel is negotiating with General Motors and it may be that the latter will adopt the new contrivance. Arvin King has stabled ten thoroughbreds at Tropical Park. His trainer is George L. Arvin. They included Sonnelli, Chiefs Ca mille, Crystal Domino, Gan Lee, Brilliant Bud, Sweep Pic, Try King, Trymack, Try-come and Tryweight. There is a Hoot Gibson on Frank Bruens payroll. Hes not the cowboy screen star, just a hard working young man who smokes cigars and smiles. He is a clerk in secretary H. D. Monroes office. Most of the star jockeys are registering at the new track. "Sonny" Workman, who rides for C. V. Whitney, which happens to be a pretty good job, is on the grounds. Hubert Callahan, who shone with brilliancy at last years St. Johns meeting, and who is under contract to Max Hirsch, is also knocking around the stables renewing old acquaintances. Talking about jockeys, there is one here named Charley Corbett, who rides for F. A. Carreaud, who is an airplane bug. He has a license to pilot planes and loves It. He rides to and from the track in the plane. Daniel Fox, one of Captain Duhains alert men, entertained some friends from Saratoga at this afternoons races. Big Dan is a wonderful host.
