SCREEN IDOL, away forwardly and quick to find her stride, took command the first sixteenth and, responding determinedly under a vigorous hand ride, outlasted MIKE REYNOLDS in the final drive. MIKE REYNOLDS was away tardily, but gained steadily when in his stride and was wearing the winner down at the end. LADY BRACADALE moved into contention at once from a slow beginning, but weakened slightly whila racing .greenly the last seventy yards. SEYMOUR was always a forward contender and closed strongly. GLORY ANNE was in tight quarters in the stretch run. TUFFY DOE went evenly. HIGH EXPLOSIVE raced greenly. BELLE MYSTERY swerved to the inside when the break came. HAZEL GUMBERTS, slow to get going, gradually worked her way forwardly while saving ground rounding the turn and, drawing clear with a rush entering the stretch, held her opposition safe at the end. DEER-FIELD, going in improved form, set a fast early pace and raced SIR BARLEY into defeat, responded gamely under punishment through the stretch and outstayed BLACK STOCKINGS. The latter, badly outrun the first half mile, moved up forwardly with a rush while saving ground entering the stretch and would have been second in a few more strides. PLEASE, well up from the start, went to the leaders under slight restraint on the stretch turn, but faltered when the real issue came as if short. SONG HIT, away fast and displaying high speed, opened up a long lead in the early running and continued to draw steadily away through the stretch while under restraint. DON PABLO, under restraint and bumped rounding the lower turn., closed stoutly when clear and held CAPTAIN ED safe in the final drive. The latter slipped through on the inside all the way and made a game effort under punishment through the stretch. DISCOBOLUS, nearest in pursuit of the leaders in the early stages, began tiring in the. final quarter mile and was probably short. NONANA broke well, but was slow to find her stride and dropped out of contention in the opening sixteenth. RUFFIAN was running well within himself the last eighth. Scratched 675343On Leave, 107. BIRD OF PREY went into the air at the start, but got into contention with a rush, was then steadied back of the leaders until rounding the lower turn, where he moved up on the outside and outlasted GIBBYS CHOICE in the final drive. GIBBYS CHOICE forced a steady early pace and raced LA GOLONDRINA into defeat, then took a short lead while saving ground, but could not stall off the winner. SOUR MASH gradually worked his way forward on the outside and finished going strongest of all. WANDERING GOLD, in tight quarters between the leaders rounding the last turn, was crowded back entering the stretch and then weakened. FAIR ARGUMENT closed some ground.
