J. ai ri P H o: of rj h I " t rFAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES $ Placide Frigerio, track superintendent at Jefferson Park, was a visitor at the Fair Grounds today. He assured horsemen that Jefferson Park track will be kept in best possible condition throughout the remainder of the winter, thereby providing excellent training facilities for the 400 horses quartered there and pointing for engagements at the Fair Grounds. Jockey W. Dellow, was unable to get within the weight limit on Galahad and when he tipped the scales at 122 pounds, decided to withdraw his application for a license here. C. Hyde Smith obtained Fair Grounds quarters for the three-year-old filly Donna Dear, a winner at Jefferson Park, and moved her from the Shrewsbury track today. W. F. McFee, who was stricken while at dinner in a downtown restaurant Sunday evening and removed to Charity Hospital, was reported, in very critical condition today. E. "Whitey" Dauenhauer is making the engagements of jockey R. Tilden. Charlie Laudemire has J. Guerras book. Monks Bela came out of her race Monday with bucked shins, according to trainer Butler. Jockey Joe Cavens, who has been inactive for some time, will resume riding Wednesday. Charley Porreto, "Buddy" Ford and Harry Gregson, of the New Orleans detective force, are detailed to the Fair Grounds and their presence is the "stay away" signs for the light fingered gentry. A. P. Canale, owner of Light Mint, winner the Christmas Handicap, and other horses racing here, arrived this morning from his home at Memphis. He was accompanied by Denny Bufford, also well known to the racing fraternity. They will remain for about ten days.
