FERVID saved much ground when the leaders went wide entering the stretch and, drawing clear rapidly at the three-sixteenths post, maintained her lead thereafter under strong presssure. PORT HARLEM, quickest to start but outrun for three-eighths, moved up resolutely on the outside entering the stretch, was carried wide, but responded gamely under punishment and outlasted MEMORIES DEAR. JESEMOLA, mild mannered at the barrier, found her stride rapidly from outside the machine, bore ovef rather sharply in the first sixteenth, but was clear and drew out in the stretch to win under vigorous urging. ROYAL PURCHASE, on the outside all the way, responded gamely under punishment and outlasted SWEET VA. The latter had a clear passage all the way and had no excuses. TOY TOWN closed a big gap in the final eighth. FOUL TIP tired in the stretch. NUTTING and TRY COME finished resolutely. PAPRICE raced green. HERKIMER, away fast, was steadied behind the leaders after the first quarter and, taking command when called upon on the. turn, saved ground entering the stretch, finished gamely, when challenged and held DON TASKER safe in. the stretch. DON TASKER, in close quarters for five-eighths, came through on the inside entering the. stretch and, going around the leader, challenged gamely, but was unable to improve his position. SPANFAIR, a contender throughout, tired, yet outlasted CATHERINE FOX. The latter, forced to race very wide all the way, closed a big eap and finished fastest of all. The latter, hustled to the front in the first eighth and saving ground all the way, held on, resolutely in the closing eighth. PENNATE, lightly restrained in the early stages, moved up menacingly oii the outside on the stretch turn, then tired in the stretch. CHATFORD forced the pace for five-eighths, then tired. The latter challenged in the last half and was steadily wearing down the winner. SILVERY, taken to the outside, finished well. SAN PRESTO tired fast in the last eighth. LION HEARTED was held safe.
