1 BREEDING INDUSTRY SOUND Stability Shown by Array of Nominations for Pimlico Futurity. Entries Number 1,363 in 164 Interests W. S. Kilmer Heads List With 71 Maryland Breeders Well Represented. BALTIMORE, "Md., Feb. 3 That the breeding industry of the country is still oh a firm basis is shown by the list of nominations for the Pimlico Futurity of 1934, which closed with 1,363 entries in 164 interests. This is a slight falling off from previous years, some big establishments having been dispersed through the death or withdrawal of their proprietors, although the list of the small breeders discloses many names hitherto unconnected with the business; The Pimlico Futurity is unique in that the nominating fee of 0 is the only obligation incurred outside the starting fee, which is fixed at ,000. The Maryland Jockey Club adds the princely sum of 0,-000 outright to the stakes, which, with the starting fee, all goes to the winner," nothing in the way of declaration or forfeits being required, although the entrance fee is returned in certain contingencies, such as barren mares, twins or. a dead foal. The surprising number of 136 nominations in thirty-two interests comes from Maryland, showing the local breeders are keenly anxious to win the additional sum of ,000, divided in the proportion of ,000 to the owner and ,000 to the breeder, if the winner is the producer of a mare served in Maryland and foaled there. Among the Maryland breeders to take advantage of this liberal proposition are the Belair Stud, Howard Bruce, E. K. Bry-son, M. J. Cromwell, Janon Fisher, Jr., Mrs. R. H. Heighe, Jr., Leslie E.
