DEAD SIRES SONS IN DERBY Trio of Youngsters by Master j Charlie Good Prospects. Three Ds Stable Expected to Name Three Sons of Sir Gallahad III. for Louisville Race. LOUISVILLE, Ky Feb. 3. It is highly probable that three sons of the dead sire, Master Charlie, will be named for the Kentucky Derby, to be run May 7. This .trio. . , of worthwhile three-year-olds is Lucky Tom and Flying Don, owned by J. J. Robinson, and Uncanny, owned by J. H. Louchheim, of I -Philadelphia. All were stakes winners as two-year-olds and are said to be training nicely for their Derby; engagements. Alex j 10 Gordon, training the stable of Mrs. Virginia Fair Vanderbilt at Douglas Park, who is interested in the breeding qualities of Master Charlie, has a dozen or more sons- and 14 daughters of that great horse in their embryo state. The yearlings probably will be 12 offered for sale at Saratoga next August. j 15 Three sons of Sir Gallahad III., sire of 1 Gallant Fox, winner of the Kentucky Derby of 1930, also will be named for .the classic race. Strangely all three are members of the IfThree Ds Stable, now being trained at New Orleans by Johnny Schorr. These are Liberty Limited, Texas Knight and Sir Melton. ,Two fillies, daughters of Dis Done, will be -named for the Derby in Top Flight and I Say. Top Flights unbeaten record and ex- ploits have often been told, but I Say, more -than an ordinary filly and stakes winner, j has her further reputation to make. She is Swned by Albert Sabath of Chicago and will e trained for her1 Derby and Kentucky Oaks .engagements over the Churchill Downs course by Jake Lowenstein. Albert Sabath is an enthusiastic sportsman, and all his friends are pleased to hear of the wonderful success he has had with his two-year-olds at Havana. Olive Sabath, by Monks Way Southern Kiss, has won both her starts, and Hopulikit, bay colt by : Paicines Lizzie Carneal, won at his third : tasking at Havana last Thursday. The : Havana division of Mr. Sabaths horses are : in charge of Tom Proctor. A Princess Camelia is probably another filly . which will be . named for the Kentucky Derby. This filly has been on the slow side all the winter, but recent reports have her rounding to and training soundly again. Princess Camelia, by Royal Canopy from the Sun Briar mare, Sumelia, was one of the stars of the two-year-old brigade racing in : the West last year. In fact, she was the : best bow to the string campaigned by Joseph Leiter, Chicago millionaire. Her record of seven wins, including two stakes, was extra good. Cabezo, son of Carlaris, owned by Mrs. W. 4T. Anderson, will likely be one of the standout eligibles for Kentucky Derby honors. The colt is now at Agua Caliente being pointed for the 0,000 handicap, to be run at the Lower California track in March. Cabezos sire won this same fixture when it was the Tijuana Handicap. He has been given the light impost of 100 pounds and many smart critics declare he has a good chance off his two-year-old showing. It is recalled that Carlaris was one of the choices for the Kentucky Derby of 1926. After his triumphs in the Tijuana Derby and Coffroth Handicap that year he was shipped to Louisville and landed at Douglas Park the victim of a blood infection, either caused by the bite of an insect or from a self-inflicted abrasion from one of his plates. , Carlaris was withdrawn from the Derby a few days before it was run that year. That . his son, Cabezo; is a "chip off the old block" is the belief of Mr. Anderson and observers i who saw his performances last year.
