v f f CANCELLATION RUMORS J AMAZE FRANK J. BRUEN -------------- -----------j MIAMI, Fla., Feb. 18. Frank J. Bruen, managing director of the Gables Racing Association, returned from New York and was at Hialeah Park as a visitor. He said he was amazed there should have been any doubt of the opening of the second Tropical Park meeting. The meeting will be opened at the appointed time, February 29, and continue until March 19. He also expressed hopes that the season would recoup to a great measure the losses sustained at the first meeting. Mr. Bruen also made emphatic denial of a widely circulated rumor that he had resigned from the Gables Association. He laughed at that idea and said that he had no recollection of having resigned and had no intention of doing so at any time, in the meantime preparations for the second meeting are going forward and stall reservations that have been already made will tax the capacity of the course for the second meeting. R. Wingfield will replace Will Hamilton as starter, Hamilton being engaged at the present time at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans.
