BELMONT STAKES ON JUNE 4 Westchester Racing Association Announces Stakes for Belmont Park Suburban Handicap May 30. NEW YORK, N. Y., Feb. 27. Three weeks after the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes have been decided the third in the series of great American stakes for three-year-olds will be run. This fixture is the rich and historic Belmont Stakes, and it will be renewed this year by the Westchester Racing Association at Belmont Park Saturday, June 4. The Kentucky Derby this season, reversing the usual practice, will be run May 7 at Churchill Downs, Louisville, while the Preakness is set for decision at Pimlico, Baltimore, May 14. Other outstanding American stakes for three-year-olds are the American Derby, which is scheduled for June 18 at Washington Park, and the Classic, which will be run at Arlington Park, probably in the middle of-July. Dates for the stake events featuring the spring meeting of the Westchester Racing Association, May 12 to June 9, were released yesterday by Victor E. Schaumberg, racing secretary. There are no marked changes from last year in the program. The added money will be the same, but the order of the events will be slightly different. The Withers will be run May 28 and the Decoration Day feature will be the famous Suburban Handicap. The latter will be run one week earlier than last year. Following is the stake list: May 12, International Steeplechase Handicap and Toboggan Handicap. May-13, the Debut Stakes. May 14, the Keene Memorial and Acorn Stakes. May 17, the Bouquet Stakes. May 18, the Swift Stakes. May 21, the Charles L. Appleton Memorial Steeplechase and the Metropolitan Handicap. May 25, the Spindrift Stakes. May 26, the Juvenile Stakes. May 28, the Corinthian Steeplechase Handicap and Withers Stakes. May 30, the Suburban. June 1, the Fashion Stakes. June 2, the Maturity Stakes. June 3, the Aiken Hunters Steeplechase. June 4, the National Stallion Stakes and Belmont Stakes. June 7, the Speed Handicap. June 8, the Meadowbrook Steeplechase Handicap. June 9, the Coaching Club Oaks.
