TROPICAL OPENING MONDAY Gables Handicap Inaugural Day Headliner Lady Broadcast Scheduled to Carry Top Weight. MIAMI, Fla., Feb. 27 For the opening day of the Tropical Park second meeting of the Gables Racing Association Monday, an interesting card has been prepared by secretary H. D. Monroe, and the number of horses entered gives an idea of the number on hand and ready to race. No less than 105 "were named through the entry box, which means that two of the races ran over the limit of fourteen. The Gables Handicap of one mile is the feature of the opening day, and it attracted a good band, with Lady Broadcast at the top with a burden of 118 pounds. The others are Waterway, which gave Prince Tokalon such a stiff argument at Hialeah Park Friday, Uluniu, Rip Van Winkle, Thais, My Dandy and Full Dress. All of these raced at the meeting of the Miami Jockey Club, which came to a brilliant conclusion today, and in the card are found many others that make the move to Tropical Park merely a change of scene for the Florida racing. There is every prospect that the second meeting of the new association will meet with a deserved success and that it will see the recouping of much of the loss sustained at the first meeting. .
