BURNSIDE, hurried to the front, was rated along clear of the others, saved ground, but could not withstand the winner. HURAWAY, always close up, held on well MARTINS CRONEY could not get up. LITTLE STOKES lacked early speed. HERNOBS was outrun. JACK PULPIT had no mishaps. WHITE FLIER quit. SUPERCHARGE, showing good speed and avoiding early interference, assumed command soon after the start, saved ground and held LIQUEUR safe. The latter, closest to the winner, was placed to punishment in the stretch, but was held safe. NEW SUN, away slowly, came through on the inside on the turn and closed fast. VENDACE was forced wide throughout. SNOWDRIFT raced evenly while losing ground. MARION T. did not menace the leaders. DID SHE was shuffled back soon after the start with ETERNAL MAID. VISHNU, hard urged to take command, withstood keen contention from FINITE and PANCHO LOPEZ in the first half-mile, drew clear entering the stretch, but was forced to a hard drive to withstand LADDER. The latter, rated close to the pacemakers, came through on the inside of FINITE and PANCHO LOPEZ entering the stretch, went to the outside of VISHNU in the final drive and, finishing fast, would have won in a few more strides. FINITE forced a fast pace and held on well. PHANTOM LEGION closed strongly. CUTTLES BOOTS finished fast. PANCHO LOPEZ tired after going a half. GALLANT KNIGHT, following close to AEGIS from the start, gained a brief lead midway around the far turn, came gamely under severe urging and outlasted AEGIS. The latter, steadied in front early while saving ground, continued with rare courage. FLAGSTONE, saved behind the pace, moved up fast approaching the stretch and, going to the outside for the final drive, was wearing down the first two. The latter, away sluggishly, worked his way through between horses when settled on the back stretch and, closing fast, was wearinc down the winner. OYER TIME bcean very slowly, improved his position fast and was going resolutely at the end. WAR HERO, far back early, rlosed with a tremendous rush. SPRING-STEEL followed the pacemakers under restraint, then tired. OPEN HEARTH raced well. BARCELONA PETE quit badly after takinc the lead. MAD FRUMP was never a factor. EAGER PLAY, closer up than usual, caused MARGARET Mc and HO-GANS DANCE to be crowded back midway of the back stretch, challenged gamely on the turn, but tired* DOUBLE O. raced well for a mile. HOGANS DANCE and MARGARET Mc were crowded out of early con* tention. ZION was left at the post.
