SPARTIN LADY showed speed from the start, followed the early leader under light restraint and, taking command quickly after straightening out in the stretch, won well in hand. FLYING FLEET, away fast, but shuffled back, improved his position gradually in the final quarter and was racing well at the end. AUF WIEDERSEHN lost ground, but held on well. FAITHFUL HUDSON closed resolutely. ELEGY tired. JACK-KNIFE, awav fast, could not keep up. GLAMOROUS showed early speed. WTLKS quit. TOMBEREAU, taken into the lead and well rated, withstood the challenge of PARNELL BOUND entering the final eighth and, holding on stubbornly in the last fifty yards, withstood VALDOSTA. The latter, away fast, but sliehtly outrun for the first half-mile, improved his position slowly thereafter, withstood pressure gamely and just failed to get up. PARNELL BOUND, much used in the early stages, tired. SMEAR had no mishaps. RUNNING WATER raced well. UNCLE MATT lost ground. BILL LOONEY was outrun. The latter was on the outside in the closing three-eighths, but worked his way up and closed fastest of all. EASTER TIME, much used racing DICK MORRIS into defeat, tired after holding on gamely. DICK MORRIS quit. SQUALL raced well. BEST MAN challenged entering the stretch, but tired thereafter. LADY BROADCAST, placed on the outside of the stalls, was away fast, saved ground on the stretch turn and, continuing through to the lead on the rail near the last eighth, won drawing away. CRYSTAL PRINCE moved up fast on the outside on the far turn, but was no match for the winner. PROSE AND POETRY responded well, but was not good enough. MINTON showed speed, but met interference on the far turn and tired after taking the lead in the stretch. LOW GEAR began slowly. SCOTLANDS GLORY quit. Snatched— 705623Blot, 115. LIQUEUR moved up resolutely on the inside on the stretch turn, but was blocked. TELAMON raced well. LE BRUYERE dropped out of it after three-eighths. JUSTICE LOGAN showed speed for three and a half furlongs, then quit badly. .
