BELMONT TURF NOTES f Several trainers paddocked their charges before the running of the first race. Henry McDaniel, J. W. Healy, Max Hirsch and Andy Schuttinger had horses walking around for education. The following horses were shipped to Woodbine by trainer Fitzsimmons in charge of George Tappen: Burnside, Tetra Khan, Pardee, Flamborough and Natanis. Johnny McTaggart accepted his first mount of the meeting on Tinema and was suspended for three days by the starter for disobedience. Trainer Frank Bray reports that Brandon Mint is walking and showing improvement. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Wright and Mr. and Mrs. J. Hertz arrived from Chicago and later left for Washington. Trainer Joe Bauer stated that he expects to gallop Universe the latter part of this week. The colt is showing improvement every day. For the accommodation of Philadelphia patrons, both on Decoration Day, May 30, and Saturday, June 4, there will be a special train direct from that city to Belmont Park, leaving Philadelphia at 11 a. m. and returning from Belmont Park at 5:15 p. m. "Morty" Lynch has called attention to the fact that Monmouth County in New Jersey still remains an ideal section for the wintering of thoroughbreds. This year he points to the return of Equipoise and of Top Flight to their present magnificent form. And there have been various others of lesser fame that benefited from the pine woods of Monmouth County.
