DADE PARK TURF NOTES T 4- P. Pierces Birthday Gift threw a shoe while running in the seventh race Friday and an examination this morning revealed that he was suffering from an old injury to his right hind leg. J. E. Bassett, Jr., of the Greentree Farm establishment, is a visitor from Lexington, and Hugh Fountaine, who manages W. R. Coes Shoshone Farm, motored from the Blue Grass city. Grover Hughes arrived from Lexington and expects to remain for several days of racing. Hughes is breaking and preparing for racing twelve yearlings at the Kentucky Association track. The veteran, Eddie Martin, is staging a real comeback at this meeting. The old rider, who rode his first winner in 1906, can ride at 112 pounds, and Henry McGarvey is making his engagements.
