V LINCOLN FIELDS NOTES ! 4 : s C. W. Moore arrived at Lincoln Fields last Friday from Dade Park with nine head. The cheaper horses in his stable were sent to Riverside Park and he will have a useful string for racing through the local meeting. Edward Haughton, Texas turfman and one of the more outstanding trainers on the American turf, will have ten for racing under his white and green colors at Lincoln Fields. His stable is scheduled to reach Lincoln Fields from Dade Park Sunday. J. McGee arrived here Thursday morning from Dade Park with the horses of L. C. Young, also Betty Derr, owned by Clyde Van Dusen, and Geraldine, property of J. Lowen-stein. One car of the Greentree Stable horses reaches Lincoln Fields Friday morning and a second Sunday. Both are coming from Dade Park, where J. S. Middleton raced a number of the score in his care. The "daily double" to be introduced during the meeting will be sold on the second and third races daily. This mode of betting, popular on the larger tracks in Canada, is, in the true sense of the word, a combination and differs from the parlay system in that amounts returned on winning tickets are in no way regulated by odds existing in the regular straight betting. Frequently returns in the "doubles" exceed parlay figures. Hamilton C. Applegate, treasurer of the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club, arrived Thursday from Louisville. Mr. Applegate has been associated with racing for many years and the great gelding, Old Rosebud, raced under his silks to victories in the Kentucky Derby and other prized events.
