POMPALO, racing well in the going, wore down LIGHT RIPPLE near the last eighth post and, hard urged, drew away at the end. LIGHT RIPPLE, a slow starter, was sent up to take the lead and, while showing good speed, tired from her early efforts. GALA TIME worked her way up steadily after being outrun and finished gamely. VOLTESTA raced fonvardly. HIGH MIST tired. TACTFUL could not reach the leaders. FIRST ACT showed early speed. BLOW TAPS was not persevered with. RIDEAWAY, restrained for the first mile, moved up fast on the back stretch for the final turn of the field, went around the leaders and, outjumping GREEN CHEESE at the last fence, drew away on the flat. GREEN CHEESE, saved for a mile, took a short lead at the twelfth fence, but landed badly while holding a short marein at the final jump and was under strong pressure to withstand CITRON. The latter raced with GREEN" CHEESE over the last three fences, but tired. BAROMETER was never a factor. LORD JOHNSON tired after a mile and a half. IRISH BULLET quit suddenly.
