NEWMARKET PRICES BETTER Eighty-Seven Yearlings Bring Aver-- age of 37 at Auction-r-Top Price Is ,830. Special Correspondence. NEWMARKET, England. Tattersalls annual three-day sale of bloodstock at Park Paddocks here during the first October meeting was better than the same dispersal last year, both in point of numbers sold and the prices received. At the recent dispersal, one hundred and thirty-two head changed owners for a grand total of 6,800, as against the sale of one hundred and. seven head last year for a grand total of 1,700. This represents an average increase x about 75 per head. At the recent sales eighty-seven yearlings were disposed of for a grand total of 2,782, the balance being paid for a miscellaneous collection of horses in training, brood mares and weanlings. The average for yearlings was 37. Top price of the yearling sales was ,830, paid for two offerings. The American sportswoman, Mrs. Corlette Glomey, paid that sum for a good looking bay colt by Solario, from Soliloquy, by Sunstar, from Calabre, by Neil Gow, from Queen Carbine. This youngster came from the Beech House Stud of Martin Benson, who gave ,473 for him as a foal at last years Newmarket December sales. Sir Abe Bailey became the new owner of the other top price lot, a full sister to the smart race mare Concordia, a bay daughter of Son-In-Law, from Ciceronnetta, by Cicero, from Silesia, by Spearmint, from Galicia dam of Bayardo. The same buyer also paid ,360 for a half-brother to the smart race horse Sickle Moon, a bay colt by Gainsborough, from Compro- mise, by White Eagle, from Jeans Folly, by Ayrshire, from Black Cherry. This colt cost only 32 at the Dublin Horse Show sales in August, being purchased by the Newmarket trainer Harvey C. Leader. For a good looking gray colt by Tetratema, from Ninon, by Hainault, from Lady Georgette, by By George, from Lady Drake, the Northern trainer Fred Armstrong paid only ,200. It was a bargain buy, as Sir Hugo Hirsts purchase of a brown colt by Achtoi, from Myrrhe H., by Bruleur, from My Sea, by Bachelors Double, from Mitylene, for ,875. For ,940, trainer Tom Waugh bought a well-balanced brown son of Achtoi, from Briary, by The Boss son of Orby, from Alvuelo, by White Eagle, from Aurina, bred by the Middleton Park Stud, Ireland. Colonel Clare paid ,870 for a daughter of Solario, from Pilgrims Rest, by Chaucer, from Meadow Rue, by Sainfoin, from Lily of the Valley. At ,065, trainer Fred Darling took a bay colt by Hurstwood, from Apres Vous, by Hurry On. The Irish breeder, Daniel OMahoney Leahy, offered five lots and his best price was ,000, paid by trainer R. C. Dawson for a filly by Bulger, from Lady of Grace, by Gainsborough, from Lament, by Minstead, from Salt Tears. At the same price H. C. Sutton purchased a filly, a first foal, by Inkerman, from Ann Hathaway, by Stratford, from Flying Home, by Flying Orb or Barcadaile, from Eryholme. Of the horses in training, ,000 was the top price, which George Coldbeck paid for the two-year-old winner Magic Glove, a brown daughter of Black Gauntlet, from Love Charm, by Hurry On. Trainer Fred Armstrong gave the same sum for The Prince, a two-year-old winning son of Pom-mern, from Princess Nathalie, by Prince Palatine.
