ONTARIO HANDICAP VICTOR George E. Miller Carries J. Hazza Colors to Victory at Dufferin Course Favorites Lose. TORONTO, Ont., Oct. 19. George E. Miller, western Canadian-bred that races for John Hazza, gave further evidence of his worth by capturing the Ontario Handicap. This was the feature on Wednesdays card at Dufferin Park. It attracted a half dozen of the best home-breds quartered at the course. Mrs. C. H. Conyers Uvira, after setting the pace, was second and Marie Gaiety earned third for the Erindale Stable. The victory of George E. Miller marked his third consecutive victory out of four starts since coming from western Canada several weeks ago. From a good start Uvira had the most speed and the Conyers-owned filly soon took a good lead. George E. Miller was racing along in second place and Sea Kale was heading the others with Lindsay in the rear. Uvira continued to lead until reaching the far turn the last time, when the Hazza gelding forged to the front. Sea Kale had tired of the chase and Marie Gaiety had moved into third place. Once George E. Miller showed in front, Scott hustled him right along and had a length to the good at the finish. Uvira, while unable to stave off the closing challenge of the winner, continued with good courage in the final stages. Marie Gaiety held third place, but was five lengths back of Uvira. Summer-like weather prevailed and as a result another banner crowd was on hand. Favorites continued to be bowled over with clock-like regularity, outsiders accounting for the majority of the races.
