GEORGE DE MAR DEFEATED : Veteran Gelding Makes Noble Ef- . fort, but Is Unable to Catch Al- lanah in Fif th at Duff erin. T" TORONTO, Ont., Oct. 21. Another huge crowd visited Dufferin Park on Friday to witness the pre-ultimate days sport of the Canadian racing season. Platers again dominated the card, with the one mile and a sixteenth of the fifth bringing chit the best field of the afternoon. Allanah, swift-running daughter of Runantell and Emerald Isle II. proved at home over the half-mile oval and carried the A. Hullcoat colors to victory over the Mayfair Stables George De Mar. The show position fell to C. E. Myatts Glee Club, which closed with a belated rush to take that part of the purse. From a good start One Cent took up the pacemaking burden, closely attended by the H lcoat mare. George De Mar was racing closer to the pace than usual and as Allanah disposed of the early leader, raced into second place. Allanah was holding to her lead in fine style and- the Mayfair Stable gelding made his move leaving the back stretch. George De Mar cut down Allanahs lead to a half-length by the time the stretch was reached, but Gaither had something left with the daughter of Runantell and, shaking her up several times after straightening out in the stretch, drew out until the finish line was reached and his margin was a length and a half to the good of the Mayfair representative. One Cent had faltered from his early efforts and Glee Jlub, which had been trailing, came with a good burst of speed to take third from Floria Zel. The winner negotiated the mile and a sixteenth distance in 1:53.
