1 PIMLICO TURF NOTES ! Bob McKeever, after shipping his horse3 from New York to Jefferson Park, New Orleans, stopped off here for a visit. After racing at New Orleans, McKeever will ship to Miami. Horsemen are pulling for the track to dry out so that the Riggs Memorial Handicap, a mile and a half race on Saturday, will be a truly run affair. If the track is fast, visitors will see a meeting between the best distance runners in training. Jolly Pilot is the latest addition to the schooling list. Trainer Elmer Trueman will ship eighteen head of horses, the property of Ral Parr, Howard Bruce and the Audley Farm Stable on Saturday to Bowie. Word reached here today that Mrs. H. Guy Bedwell, wife of the only Marylander ever to head the list of Americas winning trainers, is seriously ill at Yarrow Brae Farm in Savage. Jockey Willie Nertney will go to New Orleans for the winter season to ride for John McPherson. Harry C. Hatch, a pillar of Canadian racing and a member of the Thoroughbred Breeders in the Dominion, was an arrival, to remain for the rest of the racing season. His horses, in charge of Lloyd Gentry, are quartered at Bowie. The horses of William Ziegler will not be raced during the winter and trainer Clyde Phillips plans to race a small string for himself during the winter season. Edgar Horn, editor of the Turf and Sport Digest, was host at a delightful oyster roast at the Rogers Ford Country Club Thursday night to a number of horsemen and turf writers. Acting for his employer, J. E. Simpson, Jr., trainer Paul B. Codd purchased for a private consideration the good plater Solace from Jack Whyte and the racer will sport his new silks in the sixth race Saturday. Racing secretary Joseph McLennan has booked the Will Osborne Handicap Tuesday at Bowie. It will be run as the fourth race and radios famous orchestra leader will present the winning owner with a handsome trophy. Trainer W. H. Harris has shipped Rigan McKinneys stable from here to the old Ben-ning track near Washington. Whitey Daunhauser will handle the books of Johnny Leyland and the apprentice, T. W. Shaw, during the Bowie meeting, which opens at 1 p. m., Monday. Charles McLennan was here Friday accepting entries for Mondays opening card at Bowie. Saturday morning William Doyle and J. P. Turner accept Bowie entries and phone same to racing secretary Joseph McLennan in an effort to aid horsemen. Trainer Kay Spence, who grounded H. L. Fischer earlier in the meeting, restored the Audley Farms contract rider to good standing today. Arthur Hughes Altus Nuba pulled up lame in a workout and was withdrawn from todays sixth race. Trainer George Conway stated today that . the Glen Riddle Farms horses have all trained off and he will ship them tomorrow to winter quarters at Berlin, Md. Conway will send jockey Johnny Gilbert to Bowie so that the lad who is only eleven winning mounts back of Hank Mills in the race to become the leading winning rider of 1932 will have a chance to overhaul the Wheatley Stables rider. Track superintendent John Ryan kept a force of men working on the track until 11 oclock last night. If no more rain appears he will have the track fast for tomorrow getaway day program.
