JEFFERSON PARK FILLING UP All Stalls at Shrewsbury Will Be Occupied Next Week. Julius Reeder Leaves for Chicago to Repre-sent Fairmount Park In Turf Association. NEW ORLEANS, La., Nov. 11. Pre-sea-son activity for the winter racing schedule is expected to take on greater Impetus the first part of next week. With the arrival of stables from Latonia, indications Thursday were that most of the quarters reserved for horsemen would be occupied. At Jefferson Park manager JEddy and his aides were busily engaged whipping the few remaining details into shape for the opening on Thanksgiving Day. The report reaching here that Joseph Murphy, general manager and director of racing at the Fair Grounds, was to leave Tanforan Sunday night for a brief visit to Chicago and St. Louis, coming direct to this city after conferring with his associates, was taken to mean that details for the Orleans parish track would be quickly completed. John Schank, associated with Mr. Murphy at Hawthorne and the Fair Grounds, has been here for the past two days in connection with the local course. It was stated that he would remain here until Mr. Murphy reaches the city. Julius G. Reeder, steward and racing secretary at Jefferson Park, departed Thursday morning for Chicago. Reeder will represent the Fairmount Park Jockey Club at the meeting of the American Turf Association. " The advance guard of the H. A. Catalano stable was unloaded at Jefferson Park during the forenoon. Maynap, Dark Ayr, Yank-away, Chummy and Ronald Grey were the horses he brought here. Al Green, Colossal, Era and Sister Lillie are to join the stable at the conclusion of the Bowie meeting. A. Gaignard, local trainer, unloaded Kelt-wick, Burnside, Bide-a-Wee, Song Hit, Zam-baro and Home Work. These shipments came from Laurel. Jockey T. Roderick arrived from Chicago and will ride free lance. The lad can ride at 105 pounds. "Vic Gallo, another local trainer, has three yearlings in his barn at Jefferson Park, as well as the older horses The Judge, Civallog, Quick Thinker, Master Ogden, St. Mica, Bob Kirnan and Ef jaybee. J. Grogan, who is training for G. F. Jenkins, has eight horses at Jefferson Park. A. J. Halliwell was a recent arrival from Fairmount Park with the horses Homelike, Entrap, Huraway, Robot and Moon Phase. Eddie Haughton made application for ten horses and is coming here after the Latonia meeting. B. Hernandez of New Orleans has three horses on the grounds in Graphite, Princess Dare and Matthew. Jockey J. Hernandez, his son, who was seriously injured this summer in Ohio, is galloping horses for him and expects to be in riding condition for the opening. R. O. Higdon, the Pawhuska, Okla., horseman, has a stable of young horses here. His stable consists of the two-year-olds Nisia, Mokan, Elmesa, Prisonet and Robert R. There are also two yearlings in the barn, which have been named Megai and Finai. W. J. Hughes is another with young horses. He has the two-year-olds Cliftons Queen, Cliftons Jem and Cliftons Marie. Hughes also has two yearlings which have not been named. Harry Howard arrived from Sportsmans Park with Strap Hanger and Darienzo. S. F. Murphy sent in an application from Tanforan requesting stalls for six horses, which he will bring from California. Jack Yearin, who supplanted L. Bennett as trainer for Mrs. R. L. Waters, got in from New York with Fly On, Donate, Polaire and Blithedale. Jockey R. Finnerty has been engaged to do most of the riding for the Southland . Stable. Finnerty is a local boy and has been among the leading rider circle for several seasons. W. D. Mikel, who is in charge of the extensive stable that will be campaigned here this winter, reports that Taddywawa and Race Extra, which unloaded with fever, have recovered and will be back in training j in a few days.
