WAR GLORY TRIUMPHS Riddle Racer Scores in Walden Handicap at Pimlico Course. Garden Message Second at End, But Disqualified for Bumping Golden Way Latter Moved Up. PIMLICO, Md., Nov. 11. Still another juvenile came into fame at Pimlico this afternoon when Samuel D. Riddles War Glory, light weight of the party, was winner over the big band that raced in the ,000 added Walden Handicap. There was a disqualification after the finish when G. H. Bostwicks Garden Message, which ran second, was set back, and Joseph E. Wideners Golden Way moved into second place, while the ruling awarded third to F. A. Griffiths Sarada and fourth went to the Greentree Stables Easy Day. The offense for which Garden Message was set back occurred when Coltiletti, who rode the Bostwick colt, bumped Golden Way in the stretch. The colts bumped repeatedly and when Garner lodged a claim of foul it was allowed. Garden Message was racing inside of Golden Way at the time and Coltiletti had a natural desire not to be crowded over in the deep going. The day was a dreary one, but one of the largest crowds of the season was out for the sport, Armistice Day being celebrated in Baltimore with a greater show of patriotism than in many other cities. The going was still muddy from recent rains, but it had improved over that of Thursday. The Walden Handicap had a net value of ,370 to the winner and War Glory was ridden by little Don Meade. He was also a field horse. With thirteen going to the post the field was sent away without stalls and it was a good start. Acautaw, leaving from the outside, was more alert than the others and was first to show the way, while Golden Way seriously intereferred with Easy Day before that filly was really in stride. Coltiletti had Garden Message away fast and both he and War Glory soon raced past Acautaw to take command. OVERCOMES INTERFERENCE. In the back stretch War Glory was just showing the way but Meade had a good hold of his head while Garden Message, also under restraint, was going stride for stride with him, the Riddle colt being on the outside. Silent Shot was in third place and racing on the inside but could not hold his position for long. In the meantime Garner was making up ground gradually with Golden Way, which had some trouble right after the start when he intereferred with Easy Day. Sarada was another unfortunate on the first turn and the Spalding Lowe Jenkins Handicap winner was a bad last when the back stretch was reached. Meade shook up War Glory after leaving the back stretch and went into a definite lead but Garden Message was still hanging on gamely and Garner was racing wide with Golden Way until he was a close third. This was the order as they swung for home but War Glory was clear and galloping strongly. Coming into the stretch Garden Message was inside of Golden Way and as Garner came around with the Widener colt, Coltiletti went out slightly to avoid being Continued on seventeenth page. Then occurred the bumping for which Garden Message was set back after having finished second to the Riddle colt, which was past the line winner by two lengths. Donya was a winner over the maidens that came together in the first race. She won with plenty to spare while Lucky China saved second place from Epidawn, with, Chloedair rather a distant fourth. Rush, Donya and Chloedair were the ones to cut out the pace, while Epidawn broke so slowly that he was bringing up the rear. All through the back stretch Epidawn was unable to improve his position materially, but after leaving the back stretch he got into contention in the stretch. In the meantime Donya had shaken off the others and she drew out easily in the final furlong to be winner by three lengths. Lucky China had moved up as Rush and Chloedair weakened but he was doing his best at the end to save second from the rapidly closing Epidawn by a length. Chloedair was another four lengths away. Tetrarchal, won the second race from Impeach with McGonigle saving third from Marse Robert. There was a long delay at the post due to the unruly actions of McGonigle and Matadi and finally after both had been banished to positions outside the machine, the field was sent away in good alignment. Bellizzi at once rushed the winner into command and it was General Lejeune that chased after him and My Fergus was third. Then as these two tired, both Impeach and McGonigle moved up. In the stretch Tetrarchal was tiring slightly after the use that had been, made of his speed but Bellizzi kept him going to score by a length and a half. Impeach beat McGonigle by a length and Marse Robert, after being permitted to drop far back gained considerable ground to be fourth. Bellizzi made his score two in a row when he rode Character to victory over the juvenile platers that met in the third race. It was the fourth consecutive victory of the son of Carlaris. There was a bitter fight for second place in this, with J. E. Small-mans Feudal Lord barely earning the decision over Liqueur, and Scotch Soldier was a distant fourth. From a good start, Tabaku was first to show out of the bunch and she was closely attended by Liqueur, while Character was forced to race along on the inside in the deepest going, but he was making up ground steadily. Leaving the back stretch Bellizzi took back slightly in order to come out farther from the rail. At the same time Liqueur moved resolutely on the outside. Going to the stretch turn Bellizzi again called on Character and he found his way to the lead. He was taken well out to find firm footing and was not afterwards headed. It was in the final furlong that Feudal Lord, which had been outrun early, came with a rush that saw him drop his nose down before Liqueur to take the place. Tabaku had dropped completely out of contention and both Scotch Soldier and Ilches-ter finished strongly, but they were five , lengths back of the Headley gelding. A third score came for Bellizzi, and a double for trainer H. Jacobs came when Frigate Bird was home winner over rather a nice band of platers in the mile and a sixteenth of the fourth race. The Man o War gelding won by a goodly margin over Mrs. George Foxs Happen and Mrs. H. Paynes Storm saved third from Chu Chu. There was some delay at the post for which the winner was principally to blame, but the start was a good one with Happen moving out to show the way. Storm raced after her under a snug restraint as he set-aled into his stride, and Bellizzi was saving ground on the inside with Frigate Bird. Chu Chu was right in the contention and it was Try It and Royal Ruffin that brought up the rear. Happen held resolutely to her lead in the run down the back stretch, but Frigate Bird continued to close on her until before the far turn was reached it was evident he would run her down. Robertson was the one to go outside with Storm and he had to draw his whip on the son of Audacious before he could dispose of Chu Chu. In the stretch Frigate Bird came away readily to be over the line the winner by four lengths. Happen was a like distance before Storm, which only beat Chu Chu half a length for that part of the purse. The sixth was a six furlongs dash for plater two-year-olds and Filter, which races for the Howe Stable, was the winner over Sylvester W. Labrots Bally Bay, with E. R. Bradleys Boy Crazy saving third from New Sun. The start was a good one with Bally Bay first to show in command and Happy Lope was close after him. Filter was in third place and Hanford was soon rating the son , of Sweep along strongly. Sky Haven was in fourth places while New Sun, slow to be under way, and was many lengths back of the contention. Hanford waited patiently with Filter and made his run through the stretch, where he ran down Bally Bay to win going away by a length and a half. Bally Bay had saved second place by three lengtha from Boy Crazy and the JBradley filly was only a length before New Sun, which after being forced to go to the outside on the stretch turn to find racing room, closed a big gap.
