MATE IN BOWIES HEADLINER Bostwick Star Named for OHara and Bryan Memorial. Brilliant List of Eligibles for Bowies Feature Race on Closing Day of the Meeting and Season. BOWIE, Md., Nov. 11. Albert C. Bost-wicks Mate, fourth largest money-winning thoroughbred in America, with more than 75,000 in purse money to his credit, is among the list of nominees for the 5,000 James F. OHara and Gadsden D. Bryan Memorial Race, closing feature of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Associations meeting. The Bryan-OHara Memorial is being held in honor of those great sportsmen of that name, who built and operated the Bowie track. It will be contested over the mile and three-sixteenths route Tuesday, November 29, closing date of the host organizations session, as well as the date for the closing of the 1932 eastern turf season. No two men in Maryland turf history were any more popular than the late Jim OHara and Gad Bryan. They numbered their friends by the thousands and Joseph B. Boyle and Thomas Kirby Lynch, the guiding spirits of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association, are doing the right thing by naming their most important race after the late sportsmen. One can get an idea as to what Americas most prominent owners think of the Bryan and OHara Memorial by glancing over the official list of eligibles as released today by racing secretary Joseph McLennan. Things are progressing rapidly for the two charity cards November 14 and November 15, the proceeds to be turned over to the fund which Governor Albert C. Ritchie is raising for Marylands unemployed. General manager Joseph B. Boyle reports a big club house and private box advance sale and he is confident of turning over at least 5,000 to the states needy. Due to the great demand for stall space, horsemen are advised not to ship here without receiving official notice from track superintendent Dick Pending. Post time will be 1 p. m. until Thanksgiving Day, when the days sport will be started at 12:45 p. m. By getting an early start, turfites making Baltimore and Washington their headquarters will be able to get back to these cities before darkness sets in.
