1 NEW YORK TURF NOTES $ . i Dan Kearney has taken over one of the closed barns at Jamaica for the winter. He has accommodations for several additional horses to winter. Frank Brown has retired Condescend for the year. He will winter in Florida. Horsemen at Belmont Park were gratified by the showing made by C. V. Whitney in his campaign for Congress in which he failed to unseat R. Bacon, the incumbent. Bob Robertson was a visitor at Belmont Park. He came up from Pimlico to inspect the yearlings that he has here. Robertson will ship Mabla and five or six yearlings to Hialeah for the winter. George Strate has made arrangements to ship to Miami next week. He will take for R. C. Winmill, Wonderful and two yearlings. Several other older horses will be included in the shipment. Jack Grace, special police officer at Belmont Park, is recovering from injuries received when he was struck by an automobile last week. Holly Hughes shipped the Sanford Stud farm horses to Amsterdam, N. Y., where they will be retired for the winter. Hughes enjoyed a full measure of success with his fencers this year. G. M. Odom shipped to Bowie the following horses for Marshall Field: Maracladi, Arusha, Feudal Times, Villon and Naftsen. Included in the same shipment was Sugar Pea, which he will race for himself and Irenes Bob, Rally Round; Long Chance and Adorland, which will carry the colors of R. L. Gerry. .The yearlings owned by Mrs. Poole, the former Mrs. Harriman, arrived at Belmont Park from Kentucky. Four colts and three fillies made up the shipment. Six are by Chance Play and the remaining one by Sickle. They will be raced under the silks of the Lennox Stud. Hart Dernham, who will race seven coming two-year-olds for Benjamin Block at Miami this season, announced that it will mark the return of that sportsman to racing. The youngsters are by Morvich. Max Hirsch is expected at Belmont Park over the week-end to inspect the horses he has there.
