Won easily; second and third driving. THE END began fast, drew away into a safe lead, saved ground and won handily. SUGAR PEA, a factor all the way, responded gamely and outlasted HURRYOFF. The latter worked his way up on the outside and closed fast. ORPHEAN began slowly, came through on the inside in the stretch and finished well. DARK CONQUEST, a factor from the start, tired at the finish. COLIGNY quit under urging. CARBON raced green. SUNNY TOM began slowly. Scratched1 St. Stephens, 108. HIGH GLEE crossed to the inside after the start, showed early speed, but quit suddenly an eighth from the end and interfered with CHERRY TART, MACADAM and ESPERANTO. Overweight Esperanto, 3 pounds.
