Painesville Purse at Bainbridge. . Curry Girl Finishes Second After Being Carried Wide by Winner Josephine D. Defeats Falmouth Belle. GEAUGA LAKE, Ohio, June 2. The Painesville Purse, at a mile and one-sixteenth, served as the feature of todays program at Bainbridge Park and it was won by Nisia, marking the first victory for this Light Brigade mare in a dozen starts this year. Nisia, ridden by E. Steinmeier, had the most speed from the beginning and in the stretch she drew away. Curry Girl finished second after being carried wide by the winner. The actual result was not affected by this as Curry Girl was good enough to retain her position against the mild challenge that Nuckols Boy made. This horse might have been a much more serious factor had he been given a more energetic ride. Mai San was the only other to come close to the leaders and she gained somewhat while running on the inside. Pauline H. ran a disappointing race and was never within striking distance. The teack continued fast, and the racing was enjoyed by a large crowd of feminine fans, who were the tracks guests, and by more men than usually attend on Fridays. Ormontime was installed a pronounced choice for the initial dash, but Transmit proved to be much the best and never left the issue in serious doubt. Lady Messenger led Zella K. by a comfortable margin all the last half mile for the second award. Jockey L. Wilson had Ormontime in close quarters on the inside most of the way and he was never a serious factor. Jump Off .graduated .from the maiden ranks when he wore down Nawab during the final furlong of the second race and won going away. Nawab delayed the start considerably by his unruly post actions, but displayed a rare turn of speed and held on fairly well during the final test. Pascu broke slowly, but closed steadily on the inside and outlasted the others for third. Jump Off was the public choice and his victory was popular. Mrs. M. Reiser added another score to her already substantial list of victories at this meeting when Parade Step earned brackets in the third race. The Dress Parade colt raced Flying Flynn into defeat in the first half mile and drew away into an easy lead through the stretch. Coming from far back during the run home, Howtiz outlasted The Abbot in a drive for second after the latter had raced prominently from the start. Running back to her recent good performance, Josephine D. annexed the fourth race rather handily. Falmouth Belle contested the leadership closely lapped on the ultimate winner until midway of the stretch where she began to tire but retained a safe margin over the others. June G. was always a distant but handy third. Meek, Epona and Patricia Clare all acted unruly at the post, causing a long delay. The Bainbridge track is now at its best, with fast time. being made in all the races. Platers are runnings six furlongs in 1:12, and the time in the longer distances is correspondingly fast.
