Coughlin entry. I JShandon Farm Stable entry. j CICERO, 111., Aug. 11. One of the most keenly fought contests of the entire season is expected to result in the fourth annual running of the Illinois Handicap, rich and coveted fixture which the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association offers for Illinois-owned horses exclusively, and heading tomorrows program at the local Hawthorne course. Twelve were named for the "Illinois" this morning and while several are likely to be withdrawn, a field of from eight to ten is assured for the one mile and one-sixteenth contest. OUTSTANDING CONTESTANTS. The more outstanding ones named are headed by D. A. Woods Indian Runner, a dual stakes winner at Arlington Park; A. Bartelsteins Polydorus, a consistent winner with the best handicap company for several seasons; C. E. Davisons speedy No More; Shandon Farms Evergold and Strathmore Stables Cathop. Others entered are At Top, also owned by Shandon Farm; J. J. Cough-lins Karl Eitel, Camp Douglas and Very Well; Mrs. John Marschs Princess Camelia; Coldstream Studs Marmion, and Mrs. W. E. Schmidts Fair Image. Polydorus, which will try for the winners part of the purse of which ,500 will be added by the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association, under 120 pounds or six less than the top weight assigned Indian Runner, has come up to the race in such unusually fine fashion that many horsemen and close observers look for him to prove the one to defeat. In his last trial the brilliant son of Friar Rock was not out of a breeze doing a mile in 1:41, a fine move on the comparatively deep Hawthorne track, and a proven weight packer, many believe it will be difficult to stop him tomorrow. VIE FOR FAVORITISM. Defeated in his lone trip to the battle ground during the current Hawthorne meeting and having exhibited nothing particularly striking in recent private gallops, Indian Runner does not enjo the big following that was his after he had turned back Gallant Sir and others in Arlingtons Stars and Stripes Handicap. He will, however, give Polydorus a contest for the post of favoritism and this, despite the fact that to successfully carry 126 pounds in this company will force the Dis Done gelding to accomplish the most outstanding test of his career. The Shandon pair of Evergold and At Top are looked upon as dangerous contenders and the Strathmore establishment has a real threat in Cathop. Others are held in lighter regard. The feature is supported by a fine card and if the weather is pleasant another capacity gathering may crowd to the local course for the half-holiday racing. As their final "preps" for the Illinois Handicap, which will be run tomorrow, Cathop breezed three-quarters in 1:18 and Indian Runner went a half mile in :49, easily, at Hawthorne this morning.
