NITTEN NANCY showed speed from the start, was outrun for an eighth, then went to the outside and, moving up with a rush, wore down LADY EVELYN before the final eighth and won easily: LADY EVELYN took command under light urging, gave way gradually and tired in the final drive. LILY MAY, prominent from the start, tired in the final quarter. CHERRY LASS quit badly. GRACIOUS LADY showed good form. MISS UNIVERSE quit. The latter showed speed from the start, was pinched back on the far turn and came fast when clear. FLYING SILK, away slowly, moved up fast on the outside and closed boldly. VOLTINA tired after showing speed for half a mile. SMEAR was unable to menace the leaders. PARADE STEP tired. DUSKY DAME quit early. OSCALOOSA propped at the post and, falling, uneated her rider. BELEN, racing in her best form and lucky to escape interference, began slowly and, moving up fast on the back stretch, wore down the leaders in the stretch and won easily. LAST ATTEMPT began well, came through on the inside before reaching the far turn, carried THISTLE DEE wide entering the stretch and probably would have won under better handling. The latter reached contention after five-eighths, was racing strongly when carried wide and probably would have been a strong factor. LOW GEAR began slowly. ZAHN met early interference. CRITTALL crossed over sharply on the first turn and impeded most of the others. SIDE STEP broke down after going five-sixteenths. FIREFLASH took the lead in the first forty yards, gave way to the winner, but continued gamely. MY BLAZE; a factor from the start, disposed of JUSTICE LOGAN, but could not reach the leaders.
