SALES OF THURSDAY EVENING I Total of Forty-Five Head Bring -9,650 for Average of ,104. Spirited Bidding for Several Choice YoungstersHigh Price of ,000 for Mad Hatter Killashandra Colt. 9 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., Aug. 11 Yearlings from the consignments of A. B. Gordon, J. C. Carrick, T. C. Piatt and others i were offered here last night and brought an enthusiastic response from the represen-tatives of the many large stables racing in ; this country and Canada. Harry Giddings, the well known trainer i and Canadian sportsman, was the highest bidder of the evening when ha was the vie-tor in obtaining a colt which was being bid on by Warren Wright, Jr., of the Calumet Farm and John Hay Whitney. This fellow, a bay colt by Mad Hatter Killashandra, caused a great deal of excitement. He was finally knocked down to Mr. Giddings for ,000. Killashandra is the dam of the well . known racer, Mate. The Sagamore Stable " paid next high price when "Bud" Stotler ! went to ,000 for a bay colt by Apprehen- sion Family Frost. A full brother to the present successful Cattail of the Ziegler, Jr., stable was offered, , and this youngster brought Clyde Phillips into the friendly contest that exists between , the horsemen. Harry Giddings was again successful and got the colt for ,600. He is a bay by Sweep and Kitty Puss. The total of forty-five head realized the 1 nice sum of 9,650, which made an average fc of ,104.
