! 1 FORT ERIES SECOND MEETING- FORT ERIE, Ont., Aug. 11 The second summer meeting at Fort Erie, embracing the usual seven days of racing, will be inaugurated when the Niagara Racing Association swings open its gates on Saturday. The border plant, always a strong favorite with Canadian and American sportsmen alike, is in thorough readiness and every indication points to a highly successful session. There is no dearth of horses as practically all of the better class performers that have campaigned over the Canadian circuit are on the ground, in addition to many stables that shipped here direct from Windsor. Racing secretary John B. Campbell leaving his engagement at Coney Island to act at Fort Erie has, assisted by John P. Turner, arranged a truly excellent program for opening day. Topping the card is the Horace Lerch Memorial Handicap, a gallop of one mile, for three-year-ojds and over, for a purse of ,000. In this number six of the best performers racing in this sector are slated to match strides and a keen contest is anticipated.
