BROADSTEP, showing speed throughout and restrained for three-eighths, moved up on the outside of the leaders on the stretch turn, worked his way to the front near the closing eighth and, won under strong pressure. CLOUDET, a strong factor throughout, , failed to withstand the winner in the stretch, but held on stubbornly. SKIMALONG lost ground and closed fastest; IMA COUNT, fractious at the post and away fast, was taken to the inside before going a quarter and could riot keep up -in the final drive. The latter, in close quarters early, withstood strong riding gamely in the stretch, but could not reach the leaders. MAMIE D. tired in the final eighth. GAY FOLLIES lacked room in the stretch and, with better luck, might have been closer up. SWEEPILLA, away slowly, lost ground and showed a fair effort. DROLE POLLY and FIRESTAR quit. BOBSLED, probably much the best but poorly ridden, began slowly, was taken back repeatedly in the first five eighths, lost much ground entering the stretch and closed fastest. SILENT SHOT was restrained for five eighths, rallied when hard urged and could not reach the winner.
