POWDER MONKEY BY A NECK NECKFlyer Flyer Forces Winner to His Limit in Kenilworth Feature Six Claiming Races and One Maiden Affair AffairMake Make Up Program at Popular PopularWindsor Windsor Track WINDSOR Ont May 7 Platers domi ¬ nated the program at Kenilworth Park to ¬ day A card comprising six claiming events and one maiden juvenile affair being the main offering Though devoid of an out ¬ standing offering the platers furnished good sport with close and thrilling finishes in the majority of the events Weather con ¬ ditions were ideal and the track was in good shape shapeThough Though the third race was for the cheaper grade performers it furnished one of the best contests of the afternoon The winner turned up in Powder Monkey with Flyer taking second place while show honors fell to the lot of Timon TimonPowder Powder Monkey was making his first start of the year and the Mars gelding turned in a game effort to triumph by a neck After racing the first threesixteenths Powder Monkey showed in front by a head while Flyer was next The leading pair con ¬ tinued to set the pace with the others under pressure to improve their positions The well regarded Athol being reserved back of the leaders appeared ready to join the pace ¬ makers when he suddenly shortened stride and dropped back as the stretch was reached reachedFlyer Flyer was holding an inside position and Horvath was holding him together in clever fashion Powder Monkey had succeeded in getting a neck in front It was inside the final furlong that Horvath called upon the High Cloud sevenyearold Flyer moved up briefly but Power Monkey was not to be denied and still had something left Meet ¬ ing the challenge of Flyer he moved along and yielding not an inch of ground still had his head in front as the finish line was reached Flyer though unablo to overtake the winner was a length to the good of Timon one that had made up much ground in the final quarter mile mileDedication Dedication a son of Display and Pious racing for Conny Smythe and making his initial appearance under silks was along in the closing strides to capture the first race of the afternoon This was over the four and oneholf furlongs distance and engaged the small field of five H C Hatchs Don stick a daughter of Dis Done and another that wrs making her debut to racing after appearing all over the winner straightening out in the stretch was second Well back of the battling pair the oddson choice St Moritz was third
