DYAK DISPLAYS GOOD FORM Outsprints Good Band in Days Headliner at Jamaica Continued Good Weather Brings Out An ¬ other Big Crowd Migrate and Mareve Earn Purses NEW YORK N Y May 7 D A Woods Dyak coming back to his good form was a handy winner of the best offering of the Metropolitan Jockey Club at Jamaica today It was only a six furlongs dash under claim ¬ ing conditions but it engaged some useful campaigners James Kellys General A raced to second place and The Heathen from the B B Stable beat Some Knight for third thirdThe The continued warm spell made conditions delightful for the sport and a cooling breeze from Jamaica Bay was grateful and the crowd was another big one though it was a card that was given over to platers platersLittle Little time was lost at the post and as the half dozen engaged left the stalls The Heathen and General A both took a good lead The Heathen now in his tenth year is still a smart plater when able to take the lead and for that reason Coucci sent General A right after him The pair raced well lapped and five lengths before Some Knight which was leading the others Tip ton had Dyak well back of these but before the run through the back stretch had been completed he was beginning to move up on the leaders leadersThe The Heathen and General A never falter ¬ ing continued to fight along in front until well into the stretch By that time the pace was beginning to tell on both of them and finally it was The Heathen that tired but he had lasted long enough to bring about the defeat of General A AThe The son of General Thatcher was tiring badly in the final furlong as Tipton brought Dyak along with a rush on the outside The winner was on by with little trouble and his winning margin was three lengths Gen ¬ eral A had beaten The Heathen a length and a half thus three old timers were first second and third thirdMrs Mrs Sydney Goochs Jeanne S racing in greatly improved form graduated from the maiden class in the opening five furlongs dash fashioned for cheap juvenile fillies She scored largely through the reason that Johnny Gilbert saved ground with her in the stretch and slipped through on the inside to earn a close decision over Distracting from the Wheatley Stable The Brookmeade Stables Strange Times was a distant third thirdMack Mack Garner had the leg up on Strange Times and ± he crowd gave him a hearty hand in appreciation of his winning ride on Cavalcade in the Kentucky Derby Saturday This applause came while the horses were on parade to the post There was no reason for applause after the finish for while Gar ¬ ner did everything possible with the filly she was not up to the question
