UNUSUAL DAY AT AQUEDUCT Overstimulate Is Disqualified and Money Refunded on Dundalk Workman Suspended for Five Days Dun ¬ dalk Runs Away on Way to Post Broadsword Wins t tNEW NEW YORK N Y June 22 With three of the races dashes for the juveniles and the other three races for platers the sport was not much at Aqueduct today but there were some untoward happenings that made the day out of the ordinary A disqualifica ¬ tion came in the first race when Overstimu ¬ late was set back for a foul then in the third race when Dundalk ran away while going to the post and was not started John Cavanagh ruled that wagers made on him should be returned returnedThis This ruling was entirely contrary to the regular rules where there can be no refund of money after a horse is in the hands of the starter Then the rule book declares that a horse is in the hands of the starter when he leaves the paddock paddockLater Later in the day the stewards handed down a ruling that suspended Workman for five days for his foul riding in the opening race while in the second race the apprentice Merritt drew a like sentence for crossing the field with Alanova Workman has been particularly unfor ¬ tunate in punishment this year He was sus ¬ pended for his foul in the Metropolitan Han ¬ dicap when Equipoise was set back and the prize awarded Mr Khayyam That was a long sentence when he was not permitted to ride for the remainder of the meeting meetingIn In defense for the foul with Overstimu ¬ late Workman contended that Humphries who rode Nubs reached down to take hold of him and he pushed him off with his right hand Humphries denied he had taken hold of Workman and said he had reached down to straighten his oot in the stirrup which he was in danger of losing losingThe The race that occupied the feature posi ¬ tion on the card was a seven furlongs dash for 1500 platers It brought out the largest field of the afternoon and went to Broad ¬ sword racing for G C Winfrey while Mur ¬ muring from the Ascot Stable and Robert C Winmills God OWar both overcame much interference to finish second and third in a fashion to suggest that both would have beaten the winner with betetr racing for ¬ tune tuneGod God OWar and Murmuring left from in ¬ side post positions and the God OWar trouble began when he did not have speed enough to hold his position He was shuf ¬ fled back until he was last of all Murmur ¬ ing was knocked out of it just as she left her stall and she was far back before she was under way wayIn In the meantime Broadsword and Fortis had taken command and Gilbert rushing the son of Light Brigade along soon had him clear There he took hold of his mount and rated him with a safe advantage to land him the winner by two lengths Mur ¬ muring had beaten God OWar by two lengths and the son of War Whoop had cir ¬ cled wide in the stretch to beat Mr Boss for third thirdA A disqualification marred the opening dash at five furlongs for maiden juveniles when Dewey Benthams Overstimulate after leading Airs S B Masons Nubs over the line was set back for fouling This moved W W Vaughans Galon Boy into second place and third was awarded to J J Robinsons Collector Al AlRight Right after the start Overstimulate which left from the inside stall bore out rather badly and going to the elbow of the course he carried Nubs out badly Galon Boy racing outside of Nubs was knocked back sharply nd the roughing he received was a big handicap After carrying Nubs out Workman went in with Overstimulate and the gelding swerved in and out badly Inside the final furlong as Nubs drew along ¬ side Workman reached out with his right hand in an apparent desire to keep him from closing in and bumping his mount After all this Overstimulate hung on well to be first over the line by a neck Galon Boy after his serious handicap swerved in sharply in the closing stages and finishing strongly was third only a length an a half back of Nubs NubsWorkman Workman was called in the stand after the running and when he was questioned as well as Humphries who rode Nubs and a report was made by the patrol judges Overstimulate was disqualified
