CELEBRATION AT FAIRffiOUNT Large Crowd Enjoys Extra Features te teProvided Provided for Collinsville Day Winning Horses of Each Race Provided ProvidedWith With Blankets by Organizations in Whose WhoseHonor Honor Races Were Named COLLINSVILLE 111 June 27 Wednes ¬ day was Collinsville Day at Fairmount Park and all of the races headed by the Cham ¬ ber of Commerce Handicap were named for prominent business houses here The card embraced five sprints a race at a mile and a furlong which served as the sixth while the seventh was contested over the mile route routeThe The feature or fifth race at five and a half furlongs brought together some of the best sprinters in training here and it drew Zekiel winner of three races this year Rizla a bangup second last Saturday to Malolo Pat C triumphant in eight starts in 1934 and B Hernandez Captain Joy Others competing for the 800 purse were Wise Eddie Charming Sir Uncle Less and Fayette Prince PrinceThe The weather continued sultry much warm ¬ er than the previous day and even with hot weather prevailing the largest weekday crowd in several days turned out for the good card arranged by racing secretary Leigh LeighThe The winning horse of each race was pre ¬ sented with a blanket given by the organiza ¬ tions honored One of the features of the day was the playing of the Collinsville Girls Drum Corps winner of first prize at the Worlds Fair Chicago last year The girls headed by Mrs Abbie Kneedler gave an exhibition on the track after the running of the fifth race and drew much applause from the crowd most of which were made up from Collinsville and nearby Illinois com ¬ munities The Collinsville German band was another added attraction and they played in the clubhouse throughout the afternoon afternoonZekiel Zekiel was the succesfusl one in the fea ¬ ture After opening up a good lead which he held until the final sixteenth he began to tire badly and held on gamely to outlast Pat C by a half length Pat C was a length before Rizla and the latter a neck before Wise Eddie which finished fourth fourthIndianole Indianole making her second start of the year just lasted to defeat Redins favorite in the first race which was for threeyear old maidens and winners of one race Gold Rose was third The winner opened a three length lead on her opponents in the first quarter with Gold Rose in close attendance and Miss Cohort third Indianole increased the lead to four lengths turning into the stretch with Gold Rose four lengths before Redins which moved into third place In the stretch Redins began to move fast while the leaders were tiring and passing Gold Rose at the sixteenth post was gaining rap ¬ idly on the tiring Indianole and might have won in another stride lacking a short head from catching the winner at the end of the six furlongs Redins was three lengths be ¬ fore Gold Rose which was an easy third
