TOOLBOX moved up fast after going a quarter, wore down LEGUME after half a mile and drew away steadily thereafter. LEGUME showed speed from the start and held on gamely, but was overmatched in the last quarter. JUSTA JANE, saved early while prominently placed, held on gamely under urging. CANDY MAID, close up all the way, closed resolutely through the stretch. UNKNOWN SOLDIER tired after showing early speed. LEALETTE closed a gap through the stretch. GRACE BLOTTER, restrained early while close to the pacemaker, responded gamely to hard urging in the stretch and was up in the last strides to overtake MYNAH. The latter showed speed from the start and, although hard ridden through the closing three-sixteenths, was unable to withstand the winner. FLYING DON moved up steadily, went to the outside for the final drive and finished fastest. CHICKAHOMINY, close up under light restraint, was hard urged and closed gamely through the stretch. HAPPY SURPRISE, close up throughout, tired in the drive. GOLDEN EFFORT had good early speed, but tired badly. GAY BANNER showed good speed from the start, opened up a good lead but, despite being placed to punishment, was not good enough. PLAYING ON challenged eamely midway of the turn and tired thereafter.
