I The racing was staged under ideal condi- 1 tions. A good crowd witnessed the sport, in- • eluding a large turn out of the fair sex. It ! was Ladies Day. Jockey H. Manifold commenced the after- ] noon auspiciously when he piloted Full Fling i l 1 to an easy victory in the initial dash. As- I I I suming command at once the Baffling geld- j I ing was never in serious trouble. Slip Knot i I had no opposition for the second honors j 1 during the stretch test. Mary Francine j I closed a tremendous gap to beat the others ! j home. j R. O. Higdons Royal See registered her second score of the present meeting when she wore down Tangalo, the pacemaker, during the last hundred yards of the second race to win drawing clear. Tangalo was best of the remainder. Morden raced into third place when Dark Seeker gave up during the stretch test. Gene Lutz saddled his first winner of *" the meeting when Lady Trust annexed the third event. She was fortunate in securing a clear passage next to the inner rail all through the stretch and overhauled the leaders in the last seventy yards. Mysterious Nell displayed the most early speed and held Blake safe for second at all stages. The others finished well in the rear of the three placed horses. Another rousing stretch struggle came with the running of the fourth race, the entire field being closely bunched on the turn for home, with Golden Measure showing the way by a narrow margin. Easter Herald found an opening next to the inner • rail a furlong out, and drew clear in the final strides. Heavy Sugar, a contender from the start, secured the second award in a drive from Game, with Preferred coming . I from far back to finish only a head away. I I
