BEDIGHT IN SALEM UPSET Recent Claim of J B Miller Scores at First Asking Gelded Son of Dress Parade Defeats Good GoodBand Band Veteran Brown Wisdom WisdomEarns Earns Purse SALEM N H July 26 Though Thurs ¬ days card at Rockingham was confined to the platers it was interesting sport despite the lack of an outstanding feature The nearest approach to an outstanding attrac ¬ tion was the Lowell Claiming Purse This engaged seven of the speedier and better grade sprinting platers over the five and a half furlongs distance The result was in a nature of a mild surprise when Bedight a gelded son of Dress Parade that J B Miller claimed from J W Walter Jr was the win ¬ ner C J Meister furnished the one to be second in Cantersine and Zorana perform ¬ ing in the interest of Mrs T Hunt defeated F A Carreauds De Valera for third Moane Keala was next and March Step headed the only other starter Old Baldy BaldyWith With little delay at the post the field was dispatched to a good start Peters alert when the start came got Bedight away in advance of the others othersThe The winner drew clear in a few strides and Cantersine had a good lead on Moane Keala which raced in advance of the others The Dress Parade fouryearold increased his lead on the turn and Cantersine was just showing in front of De Valera The latter had moved up fast on the outside of his field With but a quarter of a mile to be run Zorana was in advance of but one of the starters Old Baldy BaldyBedight Bedight was running strongly in front and was well clear of Cantersine a furlong from home Zorana taken to the outside had good speed and raced into third place placePeters Peters still steadied the Miller represent ¬ ative along in the lead and while Canter ¬ sine cut his advantage down considerably he was still a half length to the good at the end Zorana had moved up with fine speed and on the outside was but a neck back of the Meister filly fillyDe De Valera was unable to improve his po ¬ sition in the final test and just showed in advance of Moane Keala KealaAnother Another heat wave descended upon this territory but despite the oppressive heat another large crowd witnessed the sport
