PROHCTNARRAGANSEnPARK Stables Only Braidings of Wooden WoodenConstruction Construction at New Track Fire Hazard Minimized PAWTUCKET R I July 26 There will be no fire hazard at Narragansett Park president Walter OHara assured a group of reporters at the local track today because with the sole exception of the sta ¬ bles every piece of our construction work is steel and concrete Nevertheless profiting by my long experience as a cotton mill owner I have insisted upon every possible precaution against fire risks being taken in our construction job I was shocked to hear of the loss at Rockingham Park I called a meeting of the local fire chiefs and our engineer to check on our protection I am fully satisfied nothing an happen here hereWe We have 45000 feet of underground high pressure fire mains The water is supplied up from the cities of East Providence and Pawtucket Underground conduits carry 25 000 feet of fire alarm cables Water mains completely encircle the park and from any one of seventy hydrants a steady pressure of 100 pounds is guaranteed at all times Master fire alarms are placed at every strategic point and buttons connecting these are placed in every building in the park parkOur Our stables are equipped with a high pressure sprinkler system park hoses are attached to all hydrants At the stables there is running water at every stall door and finally the sprinkler trucks each carry ¬ ing 1250 gallons of water are stationed at the stables when not in use on the track trackThe The fire department heads stated we have the most modern and efficient fire preven ¬ tion system that could be devised Naturally 1 am pleased to pass this information along to the many thousands who will visit us and to owners and trainers who will be shipping horses here hereThe The arrival of dockers at the track today indicated the approach of the meeting meetingIndicative Indicative of the local interest here scores of persons left their beds at 5 oclock this morning to watch half a dozen horses lim ¬ ber up
