BOY PAINTER DIES SAN FRANCISCO Calif July 26 Boy Painter the royallybred son of Gainsbor ¬ ough and Campbell Kid by Bridge of Earn died a few days ago at the Beresford Farm of Mrs Lindsay Howard his owner it was learned today Brought fix this country in 1932 by G B Towne for the main purpose of competing in the rich Agua Caliente Handicap Boy Painter failed to live up to expectations of his handlers Numerous changes in riders and training routinefailed to bring the son of Gainsborough to his English form After dropping him down into allowance and handicap races Towne finally gave up and sent him to the post in a cheap claiming race from which Mrs Howard ob ¬ tained him Boy Painter spent his last days as a stock horse on the Howard ranch An autopsy showed the horses death to be due to an enlarged heart which may account f or his poor showing in this country
