L., forced wide while racing forwardly, responded nicely after reaching the stretch, took command in the final eighth and won under pressure. JIB BOOM took command soon after the start, drew away after three-eighths, but tired in the drive. BENEFIT, never far back and on the outside, made up ground in the stretch. HAPS BOY closed with a rush. WHIZZ JAMES forced the pace under light urging and tired when put to strong pressure. MARACONNA showed little. SINGING-RIVER quit. ELEGY was outrun. The latter, a strong factor from the start, was in close quarters in the drive and held on well. SARACEN MAID began well but was shuffled back at the far turn, saved ground thereafter and closed with a rush. BRITLON, used up reaching the lead, drew clear in the stretch, but tired fast in the final eighth. MY SYLVIA tired. PRINCESS QUEEN raced evenly. COGAY showed little. CHERAW was never prominent.
