GNOMNIE raced around the leaders with a rush when entering the stretch and drew away in the last eighth. RUNTILL gained steadilv and headed ALCOVE in the closing strides. ALCOVE was used up racing BEST MAN and BUSY LAD into defeat and tired in the final drive. BUSY LAD held on fairly well. BEST MAN quit badly. Scratched— 12439 Papillote, 106; 12645 Dewey Fly, 116. KNOWLTON acted badly at the post, raced on the outside of opposition throughout, but held on well in the final drive. KELSO made a game bid during the run home and was going well at the end. DISOBEY saved ground in the stretch, but got into close quarters on the inside through the last sixteenth and in the heaviest going. SWEEP LIKE was forced wide at the turn for home, but finished going strongly. CAPTAIN JOY closed ground in the last quarter and outlasted MORATORIUM.
