GENERAL A., outrun through the opening three eighths, moved up steadily thereafter, swung to the outside in the stretch, responded gamely to hard riding and was up in the closing strides. IMA GREENOCK displayed speed from the start, was in close quarters approaching the far turn and her rider was forced to ease bad: and come to the outside She responded gamely when called upon, wore down LOVITO for the com- * mand and just failed to last. LOVITO, hard hustled from the start, showed good speed, but tired in the last sixteenth. STRAIT JACKET showed good speed, though unable to l;cep up in the drive. SQUEEZE OUT was never prominent. SEABISCUIT, hustled to the front during the opening eighth, drew clear before reaching the stretch and was never threatened. NED REIGH, quickest to begin, surrendered command to the winner, but continued gamely to he end. TUGBOAT FRANK improved his position gradually and closed with good energy. CHAL-LEPHEN, in the first flight all the way, was hard ridden, but unable to keep up in the drive. MR. QUICK was shuffled back at the start, came to the outside in the stretch and closed with a rush. MOLLY GREENOCK, restrained for a half mile while in close attendance of the pace, raced to the front and drew out fast in the last sixteenth. ANTARCTIC displayed good speed from the beginning, withstood determined opposition from GREAT LOVER and was no match for the winner in the closing test. DANCING CLOUD improved her position steadily and closed with good energy. BULL MARKET, shuffled back soon after the start, closed a big gap. PLAYMORE closed stoutly through the final quarter. WISE ANNE, in closest attendance of the early pace, raced wide into the stietch and closed willingly. BOSTON BROOK, permitted to drop back off the pace, closed with a rush when too late. BLUE GAUNTLET displayed good speed for a half mile, but tired. ROYAL GUARD was never a factor. ROUGH PLAYER faltered in the last three sixteenths. Scratched— 12126 Star Porter, 113. DREEL, under slight restraint while wc iking his way into contention, came to the outside in the stretch, responded gamely to brisk urging and was up to wear down CAPTAIN ARGO in the closing stride. The latter had to weave his way through the field, gained command in the stretch and, holding on gamely under punishment, just failed to last. SPIXI, away well, saved ground in the stretch and held on stubbornly under punishment. INDIANTOWN displayed good speed, was much used racing with ALL FORLORN and had nothing left with which to meet the bids of the leaders in the closing drive. GENTLE KNIGHT closed some ground. ALL FORLORN displayed her usual early speed, but quit badly through the last three sixteenths. SGT. BYRNE had scant chance when he was awav poorly. BRANNON was never prominent. MORALIST, well placed, was unable to keep pace with the leading pair, but continued with determination to the end. CROWDED HOURS made up some ground. TEE TOTUM had early speed, but tired. EDDIE WRACK, hard lidden all the way. was much used shaking off HAPPY EASTER and had nothing left when the winner challenged. HAPPY EASTER displayed good speed to set the pace, showed in front briefly in the stretch, but was unable to maintain his advantage under punishment. CYNWYD loomed up threateningly on the inside at the stretch turn, but faltered slightly thereafter. MARS PALATINE was never a factor. JEANNE S. was outrun. MILD, a trailer for a half mile, moved up steadily and closed gamely. FRIAR MARK saved ground at the stretch turn, but was unable to reach the leaders under punishment.
