DUFFERIN PARKS FINAL DAY Cupboard Wins Best Race on Closing Day Program of Popular Half- Mile Toronto Track. TORONTO, Ont., June 22.— Cupboard, veteran eight-year-old gelding, carried the silks of W. J. Skene to victory in the best race provided on the closing card of the Metropolitan Jockey Club here today when he accounted for the fifth event, a gallop of one and one-sixteenth miles, which attracted seven of the better class distance performers to serve the contention. Opposed by his formidable opposition and in silks for the second time during the meeting, the Skene standard bearer achieved his success after leading virtually throughout, and his margin as he completed the distance was two lengths when he defeated D. Gar-ritys persistent Black Stockings. While the winners margin was complete over the Gar-rity performer for premier honors, a terrific battle ensued for the place, when three others in the field of seven crowded Black Stockings, with Fort Dearborn beaten a nose for that position and Fascinator being behind the trio to lead the others. Weather conditions for the final day of the spring season in Toronto were the best since opening day and another large gathering accepted the sport as the curtain was rung down until September.
