1 BOWIE TURF NOTES Al Jolson, well-known actor, joined the large delegation of visitors in the clubhouse Monday. He will remain until the opening of the New York racing season. Jockey J. Bryson, who is affiliated with the Bomar Stable, took sick over the weekend and cancelled two mounts at Bowie on Monday. He hopes to resume riding shortly. Jockey Raymond Workman, who rode C V. Whitneys Bright Plumage to victory in the Consolation Derby at Tropical Park on Saturday, reached Washington, D. C, via plane on Monday. He sent word from the capital that he would resume riding at Bowie i on Tuesday. Mary Hirsch, who raced a string of useful performers in Florida during the meetings at Hialeah Park and Tropical Park, was a visitor. Miss Hirsch shipped her horses to Havre de Grace from Florida. The Shandon Farm Stables Bright Light, sensational winner of the Rowe Memorial on Saturday, will be started in the 0,000 Chesapeake on April 18 at Havre de Grace and then in the Kentucky Derby on May 2, providing he shows anything in the big event at the Harford County course. This state-j ment was made here Monday by trainer i John J. Greely, trainer of the Chicago-owned stable. Francis P.. Dunne, who served as racing secretary during the final week of racing . for the Gables Racing Association at Trop- ical Park, was an arrival from Miami to join the official staff at Bowie. He made the journey via plane from the Florida track.
