AURORA, 111., May 21. — Eleven crack three-year-olds were named in the overnight entries for the 2,000 added Illinois Derby, major fixture of the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs calendar, which will be decided over the mile and a furlong route Friday afternoon. The management of Exposition Park is looking forward to the largest crowd in the history of the track. The attendance during the current meeting has exceeded all expectations, and with the fine field named to start in the Illinois Derby, the outstanding attraction of the session and the final day program, prepara- stions have been made to entertain a record-breaking crowd. The Milky Way Farms The Fighter, winner of the Texas Derby and Sangreal from the same outfit, loom as the choices in the excellent field that has been mustered for the race. Both The Fighter and Sangreal were transferred from Hawthorne Wednesday to the Fox Valley course and are reported to be in tip top shape by trainer Bob McGarvey. However, the Milky Way entry is likely to find some stern opposition from the Calumet Farms Count Morse, A. G. Tarns Rushaway and Mrs. P. A. B. Wideners Dnieper, all of which are reputed to be in fine condition for the rich prize. J. J. Greely, trainer for the Shandon Farm, announced that he did not intend sending Bright Light to the post in the Illinois Derby unless the footing was muddy, thus indicating that a field of ten was virtually certain to face starter John Morrissey for the mile and a furlong contest. Jockey Alfred Robertson, former C. V. Whitney rider and now under engagement to the Milky Way Farm, will have the mount on one of the two eligibles for that stable, while Eddie Arcaro will guide Count Morse and Joe Renick has been secured to pilot Dnieper, since Colonel Bradley will be without a representative in the stake. Paul Keester, popular with Illinois turf followers, will have the mount on Just Frank, which races for J. J. Farrell. In the event that the track remains fast and Bright Light doesnt go to the post, it is probable Continued on ninth page. Though the weather forecaster predicted showers, excellent weather prevailed on Derby eve, and the track was in better condition than at any time during the entire meeting. Should the showers fail to materialize, it is likely that the track record for a mile and a furlong will be lowered, in view of the fact that the most representative field in the history of the stake is available.
