THOMAS C. forced the early pace and raced well under urging, shook off opposition in the final quarter and drew away, winning with speed in reserve. SWORD QUEEN was blocked when NEBRASKA CITY swerved over nearing the final eighth, responded to urging and wore down ANN JOY when clear. ANN* JOY was rushed into command after the break, showed a flash of early speed while racing truly, but hung in the final drive. NEBRASKA CITY was placed under pressure nearing the final quarter, but swerved under punishment and then tired. MAZURKA raced forwardly in the early stages and then faltered. SUMATRA jumped well throughout and was kept close to the pace from the start, responded to urging when tailed upon, bore out rounding the stretch turn and carried BAFFLER wide and proved best in the final drive. BAFFLER was bothered and forced back on the inside going to the sixth fence, improved his position steadily thereafter on the outside and finished well under pressure. TROJAN RACKET wn;ked his way up steadily and jumped well, finished with good courage, but could not menace the leaders. CLONARD faltered under pressure in the final turn of the field. WORLD SERIES showed speed the first turn of the field and then faltered. DANTE BOY was outrun the first turn of the field and made up ground slowly. BUDGET BOY had no mishaps. Won handily ; second and third easily. WAR ADMIRAL set a fast pace from the start, shook off THE RUNNER in the early running, stalled off determined opposition from SCINTILLATOR and drew away. The latter swerved to the inside at the start, was placed under severe pressure entering the final quarter, but could not menace the winner. PAPENTE, a forward factor under pressure, finished well. EXHORT finished well under urging. THE RUNNER showed a flash of early speed, but quit badly nearing the end. RABY RATTLER had no mishaps. MAG MELL was outrun from the start, improved her position and finished well on the outside. SPLIT SECOND dwelt at the break, moved up on the inside, but was blocked at the far turn and did not extend herself thereafter. PARADE GIRL raced forwardly for five-eighths and then quit.
